After the success over the last three years of the first series of artistic residencies in Friuli Venezia Giulia organised by CSS Teatro stabile di innovazione del Friuli Venezia Giulia between 2015-2017, we are pleased to present Dialogues _ Performing Arts Residencies at Villa Manin. This new project is a continuation and development of the previous events. It seeks to consider, develop and test out creative projects, performances and theoretical processes, in complete artistic freedom, in order to promote dialogue and the exchange of ideas and experiences between artists and the local area.

The residencies of Dialoghi are intended to become a meeting place for artists with different origins, training and cultural experiences, and to generate genuine temporary artistic communities. These will not operate in isolation but rather search for a permanent relationship with the local area and the people who live and work there. Emerging and established theatre and performance groups, from Italy and around the world, have been invited for intensive periods throughout the year. They will live and work artistically in the spaces of the residence in Passariano, which provides them with living spaces, rehearsal rooms and a guest house.
The residencies are intended to develop ideas and creative processes, and engage with physical, mental and social dimensions by inhabiting a place and bringing a strong sense of community to it.

Dialogues _ Performing Arts Residencies at Villa Manin has been developed with a great attention to the need to identify both artists who are already well established in the national and international artistic scene, as well as younger and emerging artists, with particular attention to the artistic talent in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

A multidisciplinary approach provides common ground and a place where everyone can meet, because the concept behind Dialoghi is based on an open relationship and an exchange between the artists themselves, between artists and the local area, and between different cultures, arts and form of expression. The residency becomes a laboratory where it is possible to experiment and hybridize many different artistic languages.
Each artist or team will have total freedom regarding the theme and working methods for their residency, and anyone who needs support in developing their creative project will be assisted by professionals and experts in the field.

The artistic projects might concentrate on the development of new concepts, leading to new creative directions; or they might add a new phase to a creative process that has already begun; or they might be an opportunity to verify and an existing artistic work and explore it more deeply.

At the end or during the residency, there will be moments when they are open to the public, with creative workshops, meetings and workshops with experts, critics and other artists. This is a continuation of that work that has developed over the last three years as part of an important network of Italian and European artistic residencies, which has made Dialogues _ Performing Arts Residencies at Villa Manin a hub for encounters related to performing arts, a laboratory for experimentation and fertile ground for connections between the world of culture and the public.
