This project leaps into the dramatic content of the only tragic trilogy to have survived into the modern day, the Oresteia of Aeschylus. Plunging into the pages of a global touchstone of dramatic literature doesn't necessarily mean reproducing another, unproblematic interpretation of the fable (the terrible cycle of crimes that culminate with the madness of Orestes), but rather penetrating into the decadence of the collective unconscious which is connected to the collapse and crisis of values in our society. This is the starting point for the project, which seeks to use the approach of cinema to explore the relationship of an entire community with a social, political and economic crisis. The intent is to interrogate our reality, to try to understand what lies behind the precarious nature of emotions that choke our daily lives, trying to shake it out of indifference and lead it toward change. To change today we must look back, to the steps that we have taken, to mythology. A mythology that tirelessly continues to direct us, although we are now in a new social context. What remains totally unchanged is the lurking weight of an original sin that has been handed down from family to family, from generation to generation, from populations to populations. Through the eyes of Orestes, we will participate in the dream of creating a new collective culture. Utopia is often the most violent unmasking of the gangrene in our world.
