Rie Nakajima, Pierre Berthet and Renato Rinaldi love to get sounds out of objects without the use of amplification. They use places as a sonic environment, bringing artists and audience closer together in a dimension of physical proximity, in informal, intimate spaces that encourage listening and dialogue, breaking down the distance between audience and performer.

During the residency, the three artists will work on the modification of the spaces of the Villa through the production of sound events. The environment is the foundation of the work of all three artists, considered in a more or less conscious way.

During the residency, they will work together on the construction and activation of a sound device that includes the objects and the spaces of the Villa. This device will generate sounds that will immediately become independent of the artistic gesture, searching for some kind of compatibility with the environment, sounds that combine together, overlapping and intersecting in space until a new landscape is generated. A non-intentional landscape which is created by listening.

Rie Nakajima is a Japanese artist who works with sound installations and performances.
Pierre Berthet is a Belgian percussionist.
Renato Rinaldi studied acting, composition and electronic music. He has worked extensively in theatre, first as an actor and subsequently creating soundtracks. As a musician, he has composed music for theatre and radio and for video and sound installations.
