After Il labirinto di Orfeo (Orpheus's Labyrinth) and Nel mezzo dell'inferno (In the Middle of Hell), CSS was waiting for the opportunity to attempt a new theatrical challenge: an encounter between Augmented and Virtual Reality involving a live actor or actress.

The inspiration for the VR and AR experience came from reading the bestseller From Animals into Gods: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari, which traces the metamorphoses that human beings have undergone over the millennia, the transformations we are witnessing and questions the future of humanity and its survival.

The CSS working group is conducting research into what is real and what is virtual in theatre, live on stage, investigating the issues presented to us by our time.

What if it is a human being who tells the story of humanity, or artificial intelligence?

What is virtual if, before our eyes on stage, is a person in the flesh?
What is real to that person, and what is fiction?
Which narratives challenge our certainties?
