Confessione di un ex presidente (Confession of a Former President) is a work by Davide Carnevali that explores the theme of power and its moral and personal implications. The plot revolves around a former president who, after leaving office, reflects on his life, his choices and the consequences of his actions.
The text invites the audience to reflect on the nature of power, the fragility of the human condition and the complexity of the role of a leader. The writing is characterised by incisive language and a strong emotional charge, making the work engaging and, in some respects, irreverent.
In creating an ideal trilogy of shows with a strong relationship with the public, Fabrizio Arcuri and Filippo Nigro encountered the 2012 text by Davide Carnevali. Their collaboration with the author resulted in this new version, which Carnevali rewrote and adapted for this production.
The President is the second piece in an ideal mosaic, this time aimed more at civil society. It follows Duncan Macmillan's Every Brilliant Thing (Everything worth living for), which had a clear focus on an emotional dimension linked to universal themes and the meaning of life.
